30-Second Headache Relief
Dr. Clayton Roach: Hey, everyone; welcome to One Minute Wellness Tip. Today, a good stretch to help alleviate some of the most commonly tight muscles associated with the most common types of headaches.
Dr. Ben Boudreau: Exactly. And so that’s a great stretch that you can do at work or home. So, you’d want to begin with first putting your arms so that it’s locked in, so you lock your shoulder blade. I like to put the arm underneath the leg on the same side. Then you’d want to take the opposite arm and pull your head towards that side of the shoulder.
You should feel a nice deep stretch through the trapezius muscle, one of the more common muscles associated with headaches. If you want to get closer to your spine, continue to pull slightly, move, rotate your head to the opposite side and pull down. You’ll feel this stretch closer to your spine. This will help take the pressure off of your joints of your nerves and help to alleviate some of the pressure from that headache. This has been your one-minute wellness tip. Have a great day.
