Impact and Solutions for Back Pain
Dr. Clayton Roach: Welcome to another episode of Double Doc Talk with myself, Dr. Clayton Roach.
Dr. Ben Boudreau: And I’m Dr. Ben Boudreau. Today we’ll be talking about back pain. What is it? And we’ll also be discussing some interesting facts. And if you stay till the end, we’ll be talking about what this 1 million means.
Dr. Clayton Roach: What does it mean? So let’s talk about back pain. Back pain is the number one cause of disability worldwide, with 80% of adults experiencing it throughout their lifetime.
Dr. Ben Boudreau: Absolutely. And one in three people indicates that back pain has an impact on their day-to-day lifestyle and operation, with 60% of folks indicating that back pain is the cause of their limitations at work.
Dr. Clayton Roach: Boy, that’s crazy. Now, when people come to our clinic, they always ask when I asked me, do you have back pain? They say no because they might have pain in their neck. Well, back pain doesn’t just include low back. It’s the neck, thoracic and lumbar regions. So when we ask, do you have back pain, you know, that includes the neck pain, the mid back pain and the lower back pain because there are three regions of the spine and the fourth one is the sacral region. So we’re not just talking about the lower back, but the entire spinal column.
Dr. Ben Boudreau: Absolutely. And where that back pain originates or comes from, it can come from a variety of sources, including your joints, muscles and, of course, your nerves.
Dr. Clayton Roach: This is why when you go to a chiropractor, we’ve got to figure out the source of that condition. Right. Is it coming from the muscles? Is it coming from the nerves? And you should have to figure that out on your own. This is why we do the full assessment to figure that out. Now, what’s up with this 1 million? Yeah, chiropractic is a very effective, cost-effective treatment and safe for back conditions and low back pain that we’ve been talking about today. And as a matter of fact, 1 million adjustment treatments are performed every business day in North America.
Dr. Ben Boudreau: Yeah, and it could be a lot more than that given the amount of popularity in chiropractic these days and looking for alternative ways of limiting your lower back pain because it’s so prevalent, right? Like 80% of adults experience back pain. So this is why chiropractic is growing every year, and more and more people are seeking alternatives to their problems when they haven’t gotten their answers elsewhere. So, again, 1 million, 80% of people experience back pain, one in three.
Dr. Ben Boudreau: Impacting their lifestyle and day-to-day operations, with 60% of working folks mentioning that back pain was a cause of their limitations at work.
