Quick Hip Flexor Exercise

Dr. Clayton Roach: Shortened hip flexors are typically associated with weak hip flexors. So contrary to the belief that you must always stretch your hip flexors, you must also strengthen them. So here’s a great way to enhance your hip flexors. You’re going to grab two broomsticks. Very simple here. I have an aerobics jumping box. You can use anything, use a book. I don’t care. Right. So just something to put your foot up. And what you’re going to do is you’re going to take your foot, and you’re going to apply pressure downwards on that aerobics box, and you’re going to hold it there for 5 seconds. One, two, three, four, five. Next move, you’re going to bring your hip up, and you’re going to hold it there for 5 seconds. One, two, three, four, five, and then repeat the whole thing where you’re applying downward pressure for 5 seconds and lifting for 5 seconds. You’re going to repeat that 5 to 7 times on both sides. And you’re going to see a big difference in terms of not just the freedom to move but also your lower back pain.
